Nursery
In the Due West Nursery, we are committed to providing a loving atmosphere with responsible, safe, and healthy care for your child, while promoting his or her spiritual growth.
About Our Team
Our nursery staff is top-notch! Our policy is to have a minimum of two staff members in each room, plus parent volunteers. Each staff member has a background check and has been trained in infant/child CPR & Safe Sanctuary training.* All volunteers are also required to undergo a background check & Safe Sanctuary training.* These important steps ensure we have the best possible team members caring for your child.
*For more information on the Safe Sanctuary policy, click here. Pager System
When you check your child in, you will receive a pager. Please remember to say goodbye and clearly depart the nursery wing. Your little one may seem upset at first, but this usually ends within minutes if you do not stay close by. If your child is inconsolable, we will notify you via the pager.
Where to Go
Nursery on Sunday mornings is located in the N. Campus, adjacent to the Sanctuary, and above the playgrounds. Weekday nursery is located in the N. Campus lower level inside the cross & flame doors. We provide care for age O through age three. Our children are developmentally divided as follows:
Infants (until crawling) Creepers (crawling until age 18 months) Walkers (18 months to 2 1/2 years) Toddlers (2 1/2 to 3) Contacting You
If your child becomes ill or injured, we will activate your pager. It is essential that it is on you. If it is tucked away in your purse or coat, it is unlikely that you will feel it vibrate.
Personal Items
Please label all of your child’s belongings, including: diapers, bottles/sippy cups, pacifiers and diaper bags.
Health & Hygiene
Each week, the nursery is cleaned and sanitized for your child’s protection. Please help us keep our classrooms free of illness. We are aware that sometimes this is a difficult call to make. Please be conservative and do not bring your child if he/she has experienced any of the following: runny nose (not clear), diarrhea, vomiting, questionable rash, pinkeye (conjunctivitis) or fever within the last 24 hours.
SnacksPlease notify the staff of any food allergies. We typically provide goldfish & graham crackers.Nursery & Children’s Check-In Procedure
To provide your child with the best care, all children at Due West are registered in the computerized Roll Call system. After initial registration, Sunday morning check-in is simple:
Good Health Guidelines:Children with any of the following symptoms will not be admitted: fever, vomiting, discharge from eyes, green runny nose, excessive coughing, diarrhea, questionable rash. .
