In 2007 Due West UMC was one of several churches who helped raise over $31,000 to sponsor the building of a church by Samaritan's Purse in Sudan.
Tongoli Church in the Nuba Mountains in Lidet, Sudan was erected in the 1950’s. However, that
village lost their church in the civil war. The Islamic extremist government had most of the pastors urdered and destroyed the churches in southern udan in hopes of ending Christianity. What the overnment in Kartoum, Sudan didn't know was that the church is not really a building, it's God's people and the leader of the church is not really a pastor, it's Jesus Christ.
The church they sought to destroy grew in size and in faith. Now that they are experiencing a fragile peace, Samaritan's Purse is using this window of opportunity to rebuild some of these churches. To co-sponsor a church we need to raise $10,000. We've already collected some donations but still need over $7,000. Would you please consider making a tax-deductible donation?
Make all checks to Due West UMC and designate to the Church in Sudan. Checks can be
dropped in the offering plate.
